Trap music is worthless reactionary garbage. It's the most commodified and artless "music" out there, basically a stripped down standardized form consisting of a minimalist 4/4 loop of booming bass sounds and rattling snares and hi-hats along with a cheesy melody made with a preset from some well-known DAW plug-in. Its lyrical content is sparse and filled with chauvinistic brags mixing classism, petty-capitalist hustle, misogyny, racism and other social garbage. Its main audience is suburbanites (most of them white) who are attracted to its singularly reactionary, violent content and see it as a soundtrack to an essentially military/fascist worldview that casts those who can violently seize power as the rightful overlords of those who can't.

Listen to this and tell me you don't feel profoundly empty and bored afterwards

>Me no like = reactionary
Stop trying to repackage right wing rhetoric with commie vocabulary.

>Vevo
Normie music doesn't represent the whole genre. Go listen to some Halley Labs then go find some experimental trap, from there you'll know how to find the good stuff.

BTW on Drake, here's a video from his "humble" origins which is basically the director for his music video where women get cast purely on looks sucking his dick, and him giving a possibly scripted monologue about his "haters" or whatever
>>7009
I like how you weren't able to read past the opening sentence
>>7010
Just looked up Halley Labs and it seems to be IDM techno type stuff
Don't know why you brought it up

Halley Labs uses trap elements tho. Also Download/Deuteronomy Halley labels her music as being made by her fursonas, so she can be like multiple artists with different but consistent styles has some good harsh noise tracks and I think if you can learn to appreciate noise you can catch the subtleties that make "artless" genres artful. Subtleties that normie music like Vevo and radio shit lack.

This doesn't sound anything like trap music
It's just awful in another way.

Fuck out of my thread
I'm criticizing people like you

 No.7017

I wouldn't call it fundamentally reactionary - but it is mostly incredibly fucking dull.

Ironically trap is a genre where it's considerably better in the live medium - like with how flat and dead and boring and overproduced the music sounds, you wouldn't really expect it, but it's true. A lot of these guys are much better performers than they are studio guys, and they often put on good shows and are surprisingly energetic in that context.

That still… doesn't make it a favorite genre, nor does it make most of the stuff any better. Shit's fucking boring, and frankly it's deeply associated with some of the shittiest (and boringest) drugs around as well… but there is a very real culture this is reflecting, albeit yeah a fucking shit one, but how much can I realistically complain about that?
Hustle culture sucks, opioids suck, benzos suck, strip clubs suck, but… it's not like this shit wouldn't exist if trap didn't exist. Being poor fucking sucks, the idea of having some vehicle out of it or some means to celebrate it has natural appeal… not to say that this is the sole driving force behind trap, that's not how pop music works, but it's part of it.

 No.7019

racist and shit opinion completely divorced from any relevancy

you could make the same criticisms about almost any form of art but the fact you use it as a thin vehicle for your social chauvism is telling

 No.7020

I was made to sound good on cars' audio systems.

 No.7021

I have to disagree, all art has value (except SKA PUNK - excluding op ivy). Trap gives off a VERY dreary feeling which I think expresses the conditions the artists are in.

Take this song for example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3hs-vv6Cf0
Yes, he is singing about the gang life, but it sounds gothic. Listen to the way he raps, he's tired. Listen to the lyrics (although they are mumbled), "This reminds me when I had nightmare".

If you think the beat isn't creative or hard-hitting enough, I suggest you listen to South African Gqom - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gS5g9rJ67A

All emotions are expressed in different ways through art.

 No.7023

>>7021
What's wrong with ska punk?

 No.7024

this is like saying music with distorted electric guitars is all reactionary. ascribing essential moral features to type of instrumental is ahistorical af. it would be like saying all house genres are PMC woke neolib propaganda.

this post just comes off as out of touch and elitist im gonna spam the thread with my favorite trap songs now

Future's DS2 I kind of liked, but I don't even think that counts since it's so idiosyncratic. Also his later stuff falls into the same trap mediocrity and reactionary sentiments.

Also DS2 came out of a flourishing in experimentation in rap music that died out so that cheap trap music could be made as fast as possible
